Tokyo Metropolitan Theater

Was invited to listen to the renowned 28 year old maestro Hiroyuki Mito conducting the Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Orchestra at the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre. This was my first time visiting the theater after it was renovated and  opened to the public on September 1st 2012.

Honestly, I am not into classical music but will never turn down an opportunity to listen to a live performance. The Metropolitan Theater is one of the best places to enjoy music & performing arts. The Orchestra enthralled us with pieces from Felix Mendelssohn’s ~ Fingal’s Cave , Georges Bizet’s ~ Carmen and Brahms ~ 3rd Symphony.

High on music we needed to come down to earth. The  Belgian beer cafe ~  ‘Belg Aube’ on the ground floor is a good place to unwind or you could head right across the theater to ‘Gorilla Coffee’ ~ a hipster cafe from Brooklyn, always packed with youngsters. We decided to stop by the coffee shop and experience the mighty strong Gorilla coffee take us to another higher dimension !
