Spring has come & gone & the weather is getting hotter day by day. Are you looking for ways to beat the scorching & muggy summers of Tokyo ? Climb Mt. Fuji. Just kidding ! It is definitely a good alternative because I did it a couple of years ago, but if you don’t have the time, energy or inclination then Todoroki valley is a refreshing getaway from a bustling central Tokyo. It is situated in the western suburb of Tokyo just 20 minutes from Shibuya & a few minutes from Todoroki station (Exit 1) on the Tokyu Ooimachi line.
The flora & fauna along this 1 km walking trail is refreshing. The soothing chirps of birds & the gurgling creek further enhance the serene atmosphere. Half way down the trail you will come across a popular restaurant called ‘Otto’ that serves good pizzas. The ascent is pretty steep though. At the end of the walk you will see the Todoroki Fudo temple & there is a children’s playground too.
